Things I'll Tell My Daughter

This is not actually written by me, but a relative of mine, Ruchira Sen. But I agree to whatever she has said, so decided to pen it down here...

Things I'll tell my daughter(Hope I have one someday)

1.You don't need to feel pressurized to look 'presentable'. Maintain the level of hygiene that makes you comfortable. Quite honestly, how you look doesn't matter. What matters is what you stand for, which should feature in who you are.

2.No, you don't need to be home by sunset. People will try to harass/molest/rape you wherever you are. The idea is to terrorize you into hiding at home and to keep you away from making your voice heard. It helps to be safe, to take transport after dark instead of walking, t know your routes, to be with friends if possible but assert your right to be whenever and wherever you want to be and if you are walking and alone and are stalked, remember it is not your fault. You are not asking for it. If you are in a boy's room at a particular time, it does not mean that anyone can treat you anyway. You are not asking for it.

3.Eat and drink as much as you like.

4.A blood stain in your dress is not a shameful thing. Menstruating is normal.

5.No, you don't need to be a 'lady' because 'well behaved women seldom made history'. It's enough to be a good person-to be helpful, caring and sensitive, to know what's true and right and good and strive for it.

Clips of My Mind: Shiva and Kaali

Clips of My Mind: Shiva and Kaali

Shiva and Kaali

I have been planning to get a tattoo of Shiva and Kaali done for quite sometime now.

I just love what they represent metaphorically. Kaali, is the feminine word for eternal time. Kaal, is the masculine word for the same. Shiva, in his meditative state represents the universe in it's primal, passive and subconscious state. Kali dancing on him represents the dance of time eternal. Both of them together basically represent the dance of time on the passive state of the universe.

Also, what a lucky gal she is. To have Shiva as her man. Shiva, who is there for her when she is at her best, and when she is at her worst. Shiva, who is the epitome of acceptance when she is angry, erratic and uncontrollable. His unconditional love calms her down. He has understood her at her core, and supports her, come what may. She is totally free when she is with him. He is the one she comes home to.

That kind of love is every mere mortal gal's dream. May every Kali of this mortal world find her Shiva.

Two point five

Haha...2.5 has become a joke between us, a favorite topic of  'ched-chad'. We keep pulling each others legs on how one has started taking the other for granted in just 2.5 months!! We exaggerate our so-called misery over the sorry state of affairs in just 2.5 months :)

This got me thinking. What has really happened in 2.5 months? What has really changed? Let me tell you what happened:

  • With you, I have learned what is being happy in love all about!
  • With you I have finally understood the meaning of happy relationships. Ours is a kind of relationship I have always dreamt about.
  • You have put my faith back in love n relationships. :)
  • Happy memories of our shared moments!
  • I have felt you gentle warmth and care that makes me feel so special
  • For the first time in my life, I have felt alive at someone's touch...and that is yours :)
  • Our dates, specially our ice-cream dates at 'corner house' are moments that make me smile whenever I think about them!
  • You are the first person who has never commented about my weight but actually likes it! I always knew that my curves were sexy...u kinda validated it!
  • With you I do not feel the need or compulsion to dress up and look good. I do dress up coz I love the way you admire me when I look good :)
  • Spending time with you relaxes me. Time flows like the gentle flowing of the brook when I am with you.

There is a quote by Richard Warren:
"The most desired gift of love is not diamond or roses or chocolates. It is focused attention."
Focused attention is what you give me.
 Thank You.
You the the best thing that has ever happened to me. :)
